If nothing else, the mournful frijoles thank Ambassador Fred Merkaloy for bringing only these photos to life...
| Greetings, boys and ghouls, and welcome to Forest Lawn Memorial Park, the most famous cemetery this side of Arlington. Today the beans have come to Southern California to check out the final resting place of some of the biggest names in entertainment, along with a few ordinary working stiffs. Forest Lawn is 300 acres of pristine, prime real estate, covered with chapels, mausoleums, gardens, and of course plenty of very embalmed bodies. (Fortunately, those aren't part of the allure.) Over a million tourists visit Forest Lawn every year, and believe it or not, over 60,000 couples have been MARRIED here, including Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman. Kinda puts that whole "...or forever hold your peace..." bit into a new light, doesn't it? There's also replicas of Michelangelo's David and Moses here, along with da Vinci's Last Supper recreated in stained glass, so there's plenty to do besides wandering around looking for famous dead folks. The beans tip their lid to the nice people at Forest Lawn, for making death a little more lively. Remember -- life does go on, even when yours is over. As for the beans, they're going to live forever, thanks to the power of the Internet and the wonder that is hermetically sealed metal. |

Q: On his wedding night, what did Frankenstein's monster embarrassingly discover that the good doctor forgot to attach? Now, normally the beans only present those who lived a somewhat famous life, either through celebrity or notoriety. However, when walking around the beautifully maintained grounds of Forest Lawn, the frijoles did stumble across this headstone with a rather unusual name. And so it is in the afterlife that the beans salute him. May he rest in peace - not pieces. |
