Good day, fellow Americans and patriotic vegetables, and welcome to West Branch, Iowa, the little town that was the birthplace of our 31st President, Herbert Hoover. Today the beans had the pleasure of touring his Presidential library, and of course his final resting place. (No Presidential visit would be complete without it, now would it?)

Herbert Hoover was born in 1874, and after a successful career as a mining engineer around the world, he ended up helping hungry people around the world during and after WWI. As Director of the American Relief Administration, his efforts helped feed 350 million people in 21 countries between 1918-19. For this alone, the beans offer Mr. Hoover all the props in the world. If there's one thing that the frijoles are against, it's going to bed with an empty tummy.

Herbert became U.S. President in 1928, and served for a single term, then spent the rest of his life working for the people as chairman of the Boys Club and helping to establish the children's welfare groups CARE and UNICEF. See? Not all of our elected officials are selfish dolts...every once in a while, a good guy does comes along.

And since the canned boys were so impressed with the Herbert Hoover story, here they are, chilling out on the chilly Vermont marble tomb of the man himself. You will be pleased to know that the beans had to jump a velvet rope to take this photo. (You may also be doubly surprised to learn that they weren't immediately tackled by security.) Since the beans are all about honoring our deceased leaders, and never about doing any harm to their graves (trust us - you don't want dead Presidents haunting you...), I can proudly assure you that the frijoles only meant respect and good will. Now will someone please call off the ghosts and guards?

Anyway, the beans thank President Hoover for his years of service, and for not getting up to greet them on their visit.
