"Hello everybody -- this is Jimi." And with those famous words, our friend Mr. Hendrix became a rock and roll legend. Welcome once again to Renton, Washington, the final resting place of Jimi Hendrix. As you may know, Jimi was the first member of Beans Around The Graveyard, joining the site almost three years ago. At that time, Jimi was resting comfortably below the dirt, where he was a tourist attraction for millions of fans. The problem was that the local kids (the Merkaloy boys aside) liked to come hang out on his tombstone and... well, let's just say that they broke at least 4 of the 10 Commandments out here. Disgusting, I know. Even more proof that the Renton Loop should have remained open.

So after a while, the cemetery got a little tired of picking up the empties and the roaches from the gravesite, plus having to deal with angry relatives of nearby loved ones whose graves have been trampled by half-stoned teenagers. (Which serves as a reminder, boys and girls: Treat the cemeteries with RESPECT, and you won't face nasty hauntings...) Anyway, when Jimi's father Al passed away a little while back, they moved Jimi's remains, and his new, public memorial was built.

There's another tribute to Jimi in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, and still one more at Woodland Park Zoo. As you can tell, the city is mighty proud of its native son.

The beans are hoping that one day the good people of Seattle will memorialize them, too, which would be cool as long as they don't put them on the corner of First & Pike, near the S&M leather shop...

And as you can see, the new headstone is similar to Jimi's original one, only now it's up and down instead of flat. The beans think that Jimi's new tribute is perfect -- it's easy to find, it's clean, and best of all, it's not littered with pipe resin and broken glass.

The beans have always dug Jimi, and they salute him as the first member of the bizarre world of BATG. Now, if you'll excuse them, they've got to go track down this guy named Joe -- I hear that he's after them for messin' around with his old lady...
