Hello, hello, hello, and welcome again to the Garden of Everlasting Peace in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where today the beans pay their respects to film legend Spencer Tracy. Now, for those of you born during the Reagan administration, you may be wondering: How was his acting? Well, you'd have to say he was pretty darn good. He was the first person to win back-to-back Oscars, for "Captains Courageous" in 1937, and then for "Boys Town" a year later, plus he was nominated 7 more times. So do yourself a favor -- put down the "Gigli" DVD and run out and rent a couple of Spencer's classic movies. You'll be glad you did.

Here's an interesting piece of trivia: Spence was offered the role of The Penguin on the 60's TV series Batman. Tracy said that he would only accept the role if he was allowed to kill Batman. Now, while the beans admit that seeing Spencer Tracy knock off the Caped Crusader would be good television, it would've made for an awfully short season, and they would have had to show old "My Mother, The Car" reruns in its place, so it's probably a good thing that Burgess Meredith ended up with the role in the end.

Anyway, the beans thank Spencer for being a good sport and an even better actor. And the next time you guess who is coming for dinner, don't be surprised if it's a can of beans...
