"Kevin will probably never forgive us for these photos, but at least we now know for sure he's not frozen!" -- BATW Ambassador and honorary BATG writer Fred Merkaloy

Hello, enchanted princesses and 5-foot tall mice, and welcome once again to Forest Lawn. Today the beans sneak past the Court of Freedom and into a small garden, where you'll find a small statue of the Little Mermaid (no, not Ariel... the original one.) And if you look carefully at the wall behind this monument, you will find the marker for one of the world's most creative geniuses, Walter E. Disney. Walt was born in Chicago in 1901, and as we all know, went on to a lifetime of success that all started with a little mouse named Mickey. His company has been responsible for almost 80 years of entertainment, and the name "Disney" is synonymous with family fun worldwide. The beans are fully enamored by Uncle Walt and his legacy, and are forever in his debt for giving them Disneyland, Pinocchio, Donald Duck cartoons, and of course the Mouseketeers. The beans wanted to be a Mouseketeer once (and that's even before they knew that Britney and Christina were ones!), but alas -- they didn't make the mouse ears in a 15-ounce can size, so it would've never worked out. But if Disney ever decides to revive the show, they know who to call first, right? RIGHT???? |
| And here the beans are, next to the monument for the Disney family. When Walt passed away in December 1966, there was no public funeral, and he was cremated the next day. Since Walt was into robotics and animatronics, and the whole concept of cryofreezing people was starting to create buzz, a nasty rumor started circulating that Uncle Walt had been frozen in Carbonite, just like Han Solo. But unlike Han, it wasn't true, although the urban legend still abounds. The beans considered being frozen once, but when they heard that their can may explode in the deep freeze, they decided to pass on it. Besides, they're really a warm weather vegetable at heart. Given their choice, they'd choose the Caribbean over the Arctic Circle any day. |
