Yet another entry in the beans homage to famous dead people. Thanks to BATW Ambassador Stein Merkaloy for giving Kato his due...
| Eternal greetings, my friend, and welcome to the gravesite of martial arts master Bruce Lee.
Born in San Francisco in 1940, Bruce (aka Lee Jun Fan) starred in several big-screen "Kung-Fu" style movies, such as "Fists of Fury" and "Return of the Dragon", and played the role of "Kato" on the 1966 TV series "The Green Hornet" (O.J. Simpson not included...). For the full scoop on Bruce's life, as only Hollywood can tell it, be sure to check out the 1993 movie "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story", starring Jason Lee (no relation...sorry.) Bruce attended the University of Washington, and he and his family lived in Seattle for many years. It is here that he is forever at rest. In 1973 at the tender age of 32, Bruce passed away from a brain edema in Hong Kong, the same year that his most famous movie, "Enter The Dragon", was released. It's said that devoted fans still leave throwing stars and other martial art weaponry on Bruce's grave (which, considering the reputation of the Seattle neighborhood around the cemetery, might be needed to get back out...). The beans are sad to think that they world didn't get to know Bruce for very long, but will always have his amazing skills to remember him by. Still, it's too bad that we never had a chance to see him whup up on Steven Seagal... |
