Good evening, moles, gophers, and other tunneling creatures, and welcome to the Chunnel! Tonight the beans are going to hold their breath for much longer than usual as they make their way from France to the United Kingdom via the Channel Tunnel.

The Chunnel is technically a three tunnel railroad connection between Calais, France and Folkestone, England. (Two tunnels for transportation, one for maintenance.) The tunnels are 31 miles (50 KM) long, and is about 150 feet below the water. The paperwork was signed for construction of the Chunnel in 1986, and opened to the public in 1994.

So here go the beans, about to spend the evening under the sea. It's a good thing they're not claustrophobic, isn't it? Otherwise it'd be a loooong night.

And as you can see, the beans made it safely into the Chunnel, without any sissy screaming or other un-beanly panic attacks. The Chunnel is actually quite safe, if you think about it. The Eurostar train gets you in and out of the Chunnel in about 20 minutes, and you don't have to sit in your car and smell gas fumes all night.

So the beans enjoyed their time under the English Channel, and promise that next time, they'll just swim across. How's that sound?
