How 'bout them Cowboys? The beans earn their shot at the Lombardi trophy, in the only way they could.
| Hey there football fans, and welcome to Arlington! Okay, I know that technically they're called the "Dallas" Cowboys, but since they play out here in the suburbs, we'll have to dub them as just "the Cowboys" today. Semantics be damned. Anyway, just purely by coincidence the frijoles found themselves in Arlington on NFL draft day, and since the party was open to the public, it only seemed fitting that the beans crash the festivities. It's the closest they'll ever come to sitting in the owner's box, unless Jerry Jones coughs us up a pass or two... |

At draft day they had a lot of displays of famous Cowboys and their memorabilia -- Staubach, Smith, Aikman, Dorsett, Irvin... the list goes on and on. There are 12 Cowboys in the Hall of Fame, and there have been 8 Super Bowl MVPs, so you know these aren't just a bunch of nobodies. Still, the beans searched and searched throughout all of the memorabilia, but they couldn't find Jessica Simpson's pink Romo jersey. Gee, wonder why not? |
| Ah, but the other highlight of the Cowboys is their...cheerleaders. And while our despondent beans didn't get to meet any actual hot cheerleaders, they did get to pose with this poster. While it's nowhere near as good as the real thing, at least this way you won't see a metal can blush. | ![]() |

But the real highlight of the day sat on a (heavily guarded) table in the corner of the exhibition hall. Yep, there they are -- Dallas' 5 Super Bowl trophies. Drooling yet? The Cowboys hoisted the Lombardi trophy in 1971, 1977, 1992, 1993, and 1995, and have made the playoffs 30 times. Impressive, no? The beans may have been hoisted more times (and they got to say "I'm going to Disneyland!"), but alas - they're made of tin and not sterling silver. I guess you can't always get everything you want... |
| Yet through the miracle of intense whining and begging, the beans did manage to get themselves up on the prize table with the trophies. Pretty dang cool, if you ask me. And while they didn't manage to "borrow" one for their own display case, they were honored to be considered the 6th jewel in the Cowboy's crown. So the beans had an awesome day in Arlington, and thank the Cowboys for letting them hang out for a while. And perhaps the next time they're presented a confetti-covered trophy, the Cowboys will remember to thank the Little Can That Could -- And Did. |
