Howdy cowboys and cowgirls, and welcome to the small Colorado town of Deer Trail! With a population of only 598 cowpokes, Deer Trail isn't that large, but it can rightfully claim its place in history as the birthplace of American Rodeo! This first organized rodeo was held in Deer Trail on the 4th of July in 1869, when cowboys from the Mill Iron, Camp Stool, and Hashknife outfits, met up in Deer Train during their drives, and decided to have a test of skill and strength. (Do you suspect drinking was involved?) The rest is, as they say, bull-roping history.

In the end, the beans did enjoy their time in Deer Trail, and hope to be able to participate in next year's rodeo fun. They may not be able to barrel race or hog-tie a calf, but their can does make for a pretty good rodeo clown.
