Two home runs for BATW Ambassadors John Sumida and Ted Jussila for these pictures from this year's All-Star week!
| Welcome to FanFest, part of the annual All-Star Game fun. Since this year's All-Star game was in Seattle, FanFest (technically the "John Hancock All-Star FanFest®") came to town for a 5 glorious days of exhibits, baseball lore, and overly-hyped merchandise...but I digress. It was fun, and that's what counts, right?
Anyway, BATW Ambassadors John and Ted managed to get away with taking pictures of the beans with all sorts of stuff, and although it was close, they weren't busted by security, so kudos to both! |

Here the beans visit the World Series trophy. Now, with a little luck, a continued hot streak by Brett Boone, and some rockin'-good relief pitching, the Mariners may be able to hang onto this bad boy at the end of October... Go M's! |
| But along with being Mariner fans, deep down the beans have always bled Dodger Blue, so they were honored to pose with the jersey of Dodger great Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play Major League Baseball. Jackie is still a major inspiration to kids everywhere, and the beans tip their label to his legacy. Next to Jackie's jersey are those belonging to Red Sox hitting legend Ted Williams (the last player to bat .400), and Cardinals slugger Stan "The Man" Musial. |

The beans also got to hang out with the jersey of "Hammerin'" Hank Aaron, the home run king. Hank hit an amazing 755 home runs in his amazing career, and always looked like he was having a good time doing it. The beans also spent some time with Al Kaline, or at least his clothes. Al played for the Tigers for 22 seasons, and racked up an amazing 3,007 hits and 399 home runs. See? The beans are a walking encyclopedia of baseball knowledge! Now you know what they did with all of their time during Chemistry class, instead of paying attention to Madman Collins... |
| For some odd reason that I can't quite explain, the beans have a thing for tall fuzzy characters - here they hang with "Skratch", the mascot for the Lynx. Ottawa is the AAA affiliate for the Montreal Expos. Thanks to Skratch for being kind enough to hold the can, and for not ripping the label to shreds or chewing through the can. Good kitty. | ![]() |

Finally, here's a bizarre view... At FanFest they apparently had these cardboard cutouts of players from the neck down, where you could stick your head through the hole in the back and presto - you've got a shoe contract! So being the big-leaguer-wannabees that they are, the beans couldn't pass up a chance to pose as a batting champion. Of course, since the beans have a can and not a head, it made for a site that was both shocking and fascinating, but since they are protected by a layer of aluminum alloy, there was no need for a batting helmet. |
