Argh, Matey! The buccaneer beans wish to thank BATW Ambassadors Lou and Jan Gerst for taking them to Grand Cayman!
| Yo ho, yo ho, and welcome to Georgetown, Grand Cayman! Today the frijoles have the great pleasure of visiting one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, where pirates have lurked for hundreds of years. The caves and coves hidden in and around the Cayman Islands made for perfect hideouts for scalawags such as Blackbeard, Sir Henry Morgan, and other pirates out to pillage and plunder and rifle and loot Spanish galleons. Many ships fell afoul of the reefs surrounding the islands, often with the "help" of Caymanians who lured vessels to shore with beacon fires. (Ha, ha - suckers!!!) And so here the beans are, with a wooden version of one of these robbers of yore. Of course, today's pirates operate much differently; their tools usually include a camcorder, a cable box, a DVD burner, and/or a high speed Internet account. Still, the beans prefer the legend over the real thing; they'd much rather socialize with a bloodthirsty pirate in search of buried gold than a video pirate who can't work his camcorder in a theater... So in the end, the beans had a great time on Grand Cayman, and PROMISE they'll be back very soon. How soon? Well, how does January 25, 2005 grab ya? See you then!!! |
