Hi there, passing motorists and art fiends, and welcome to beautiful San Jose, California! Today the beans are lucky enough to drop by on of the Bay Area's most unique festivals, the ArtCar Fest! Each September 100 of the best dressed vehicles come to San Jose to show off their fancy duds, including our new friend here, with his fancy Bug, "Glass Quilt". Glass Quilt was once a 1969 Volkswagen, but now? It's sooo much more.

Since the beans have a highly decorated outside metal shell, too (okay - a label really doesn't count as being "highly decorated", but don't spoil their dream...), they felt right at home among these tricked out rides.

Now, although this photo is bean-free, the frijoles thought it was important that you got a closer look at how much work goes into one of these babies. Although the beans can't be certain, they are pretty sure that this wasn't done with a tube of Dapp and a Ronco Rhinestone Studder. It actually took almost 18 years to affix all of that stained glass and 10,000 glass marbles to the Bug.

The beans salute all of the hard work that went into making the Glass Quilt -- heck, all they've manage to do to their car was add a set of giant fuzzy dice to the rearview mirror, and buy a really nifty ZZ Top key ring.

While the beans were checking out the cars, they also met the owner of Glass Quilt, who was nice enough to pose with the beans, and so you know who the frijoles immediately voted for, right??? (Hey, it's California voting...what did you expect?)

The beans tried talking him into decorating them, too, but they ended up looking more like Mr. T with all of the bling-bling on, so they eventually gave up and went back to their usual label. It's lightweight, comfortable, and they never have to use the phrase "I pity the fool" when wearing it.
