Things get a little "spicy" for the beans as they continue their cruise on board this amazing ship! These are Kevin originals, from January 05.
| Ahoy, vacationers and virtual stowaways, and welcome back once again to the Carnival Miracle cruise ship! In part one of our journey we showed you some of the sights you'll see when boarding this amazing vessel, but now we'll show you some of the other stuff that's happening. I mean, after you tour the ship and pass your muster test, what else is there to do, right? Unless you're in port, you're pretty much trapped on board for the next 7 days; it's not like you can hop a subway into town to catch the latest Rob Schneider flick. Ah, but never fear - the nice people at Carnival will make sure you're never bored. There's always something happening. Bingo, movies, comedy, karaoke (you should've heard the beans belt out "Sweet Home Alabama". It'd have brought tears to your eyes!), trivia contests, and of course enough food to ruin a million diets. And if you're looking for a Hollywood moment, may we suggest you do like the beans here and have your very own personal "I'm King of the World!!!" reenactment on the bow of the ship? The beans liked playing Titanic while overlooking the Cayman Islands at sunrise (heck - who wouldn't?), but they were more than a little disappointed that Kate Winslet wasn't there to enjoy it with them... |

And if getting down with 15 foot tall creatures is more to your liking, then you're in luck. Here the beans stop by Dr. Frankenstein's Lab, the ship's disco, where the Bee Gees meet one of fiction's most famous creatures. Now, I knew that old Frank's monster was partial to "Puttin' on the Ritz", but who knew that he also enjoyed the musical stylings of J. Lo? You learn something new every day, I guess. Anyway, here the beans climb up on the Big Gray Guy's copper belt, where they spent the next hour showing the monster some of their world-famous, patented dance steps. So the next time you find yourself admiring a giant with bolts in his neck out on the dance floor doing the Electric Slide, you'll know who to thank for the flippin' sweet dance moves. |
| Thoroughly exhausted from all that dancing 'til dawn, the beans decided to try their luck once again at the ship's casino. The casino itself it named "Mr. Lucky's", which in turn is named after a 1943 Cary Grant film. True, it's an obscure movie that few people have actually watched in the last 60 years (we were too busy watching "Napoleon Dynamite" for the zillionth time on DVD), but I suppose it was better than naming the casino "Mr. Unfortunate". The beans suspect that name wouldn't bring in the crowds the same way that "Mr. Lucky's" does. Nevertheless, the beans didn't have much success playing the slots - so much for the "Lucky" part of the name. (Maybe that part only applies to the casino's accountants, huh?) But things did go better once they made their way up to the Lido buffet - it was there that every time they pressed the little button on the machine, iced tea came out. See? A winner every time! |

Okay - time to delve into the world of...adult activities. One of the highlights of cruising the Caribbean is laying out in the hot sun, soaking up the rays. And with a little luck (and a lot of SPF 45), you'll come home with a reasonable tan and not looking like an over-cooked lobster and/or a leather-faced lizard. But for those of you who like to experience what the beans would call a "tan and a half", the Miracle does reserve Deck 11 (the infamous Funnel Deck) for topless sunbathing. Now, as you can see, the sign clearly states that no photos are allowed. And to be perfectly honest - the beans aren't on the Funnel Deck...yet. This is just the sign at the bottom of the stairs. But could you imagine what it would be like for the beans to visit this land of the semi-dressed? |
| Well, here you go. Cover your eyes, kids, 'cause the beans have gone topless. Yes, the beans decided that "When in Rome" (or the middle of the Caribbean Sea, as it were), they too would shed their inhibitions and go for that all-over golden glow that only intense sunlight can bring to an otherwise metallic skin. It only took a heaping dose of courage (and a few of those special Carnival Drinks Of The Day) to talk them into it, too. Who knew that the beans were such exhibitionists? Truth be told, the frijoles were a little embarrassed by their public display of semi-labeling, and they didn't stay up here on the Funnel Deck for too long, especially since it was 6:45 AM and freezing cold at the time. (What - you think I'd risk a chat with the ship's security officer for taking pictures up here when there were actual topless humans around? Puh-leeze!) But in the end, the beans are glad that they had an opportunity to try this risqué behavior at least once in their travels. Just don't tell their mother - she'd be mortified if she ever found out. |
