| Good morning frequent flyers, and welcome once again to the Mohave Airport in Mojave, CA, where the beans went to check out the mothballed 747's and their friends. Since we first posted Bob's original Mojave Airplane Graveyard photos last year, they have consistently been among the most popular photos on the site. And since the beans are a naturally curious vegetable (another hidden trait most people don't realize), they were anxious to go back out to the runway for a closer look. |

As you can tell, the population here at the airplane boneyard has increased quite a bit since our last visit. Keep that in mind when the leading economic advisors try to tell you that there really is no recession...Somehow I doubt they mothball these metal behemoths just for laughs. |
| Here's a Virgin Atlantic 747 that is actively taking a breather. You have to wonder if this particular plane was decommissioned after a recent incident involving Virgin Air and rocker-chick / disgruntled passenger Courtney Love? Hmmm... |

Alas, our flying friends at British Airways are also retiring some of their fleet. Isn't it funny how you'll see regular ol' planes rotting out here in the desert, but you don't see a single Concorde? They must be able to convert those into double-decker buses or low-income housing or something. Anyway, the beans think it's a shame that they've never been able to fly on on the Corcorde. I mean, after all -- the beans have impeccible taste and refinement, and they're already dressed in black. Surely they deserve to go first class one of these days, don't you think? |
| I read a strange book a couple of years ago about a guy who decided to EAT an entire 747 in an attempt to win the love of a woman. The beans think that makes for an interesting attention-grabber, but they recommend that you try sending her flowers first. The girl will appreciate the gesture, and you won't have to spend a weekend in the john trying to pass a jet engine. |

And so it's time that we say goodbye to the mothballed planes. Just think - it was only a 100 years ago that Orville and Wilbur Wright soared through the air in their homemade plane. Now, they're just laying around, collecting dust. The beans salute those who have taken to the skies over the years, and hope that one day they too will learn how to fly...'cause that would be something to see. |
