Oceans of thanks to BATW Ambassador Joann Busenbark for taking the beans to meet hizzonor!
| Hiya, my politically motivated citizens, and welcome to beautiful Napa, California! Sporting a year-round population 70,000 people, Napa is probably best known as the home to some of the world's best wineries, and welcomes several million visitors to its area each year, many of which are there for some of that fabulous Napa Valley vino or to attend one of their many cultural and artistic festivals.
Now, you would be correct in assuming the beans couldn't wait to get out and inspect the vineyards for themselves, but that will have to wait. You see, today the beans have a political agenda. Here they are in the Napa City council chambers, with none other than the mayor of Napa, the honorable Ed Henderson. The beans were after what all canned vegetables want - a key to the city, and an official proclamation declaring June 24th as Official Black Bean Day. Sounds good, right? Being the wise politician that he is, Mayor Henderson made no promises. But since he didn't officially say no either, the beans have their hopes up high for this one. We'll keep you informed. |
