The beans like dairies, 'cause that's where ice cream comes from! Thanks to farmer pro-tem and BATW Ambassador John Darrow for taking the beans to meet the cows!
| Greetings, night owls, and welcome to an after dark visit to Stew Leonard's in Norwalk, Connecticut! Stew Leonards says that they're the world's largest dairy store, and with 250,000 shoppers visiting one of their three stores each week, who are we to argue? Here you'll see John and one of his Phoon poses outside the entrance, while the beans look on. The beans liked watching all the lactose-tolerant people come and go, but were really anxious to get inside for a double-scoop of "Neapolitan-Chocolate Chunk-Black Bean Surprise" ice cream. Don't believe it's on the menu? Just you wait and see... |

Now, here's something I bet you didn't know... Stew Leonard's was dubbed the "Disneyland of Dairy Stores" by the New York Times, because of its own milk processing plant, costumed characters, scheduled entertainment, petting zoo and animatronics throughout the stores. (Yes, but where's "Pirates of the Cottage Cheese" or "It's a Small Gouda?") Here, you can see that the beans were hanging out with a couple of their characters - the beans liked Miss Cow (although she doesn't talk, like Uncle Ted's "Hot For A Desktop" holstein does...), but unfortunately the farmer's hands were cold, so that kind of spoiled their introduction. |
| Now, one of the cool things that they have inside the stores is called (and I'm not kidding about this...) "Bags Around The World". Yes, it's like BATW (our version), only with brown grocery bags that have had their picture taken all over the place. You can even see them online by clicking here. The beans salute the nice people at Stew's place for their similarly-themed collection, and promise if they send us one of their handy-dandy-baggies, we'd be glad to fill it with beans for their site. |
