Beans Around The World

Parkland, WA

Special BATW gratitude goes out to Marlene Beggin for bringing us these new Pacific Northwest photos!

Greeting from Parkland, Washington! Located just South of Tacoma in Pierce county, the Parkland/Spanaway area is an interesting community, with a mix of farms, businesses, residential areas, an incredible mountain view, and two military bases in their back yard!

Here the beans enjoy another view of Mount Rainier, the reigning symbol of "all that is good when the skies are blue" about the Pacific Northwest. If you can see the mountain, odds are it's going to be a nice day... at least until the clouds roll in that afternoon.

There's a movement on right now for Parkland and Spanaway to break off from the rest of Pierce county and become a city of its own, called "Gateway".

Regardless of whether or not they make it as a city of their own, the beans are always fond of the name "Gateway". Just as long as they don't try to use the slogan "You've got a friend in the city", or paint cow-spots all over town...
