It's homecoming time for the beans as they travel back to their high school days (like it or not)! These are Kevin originals.
| Down by the lake at old R.B. High We are the school that's bursting with pride! Viking Power, all the way! Something, something, come what may! (Sorry - I've intentionally blocked the rest of the words out of my mind over the years...) Welcome friends, to the shores of Lake Washington in South Seattle, where you'll find Rainier Beach High School, home of the Vikings! An amazing number of your BATW Ambassadors (more than they'd like to admit) have passed through these hallowed halls over the years, and so it was with that great sense of pride and nostalgia (yeah...right.) that the beans returned to their alma mater. Rainier Beach had around 800 students when I attended there in the early 80's. Today? It's a little smaller, but it's still an okay place to earn your diploma, as long as you don't have Ms. Jackson for 5th period Typing class... (Just kidding, Ms. J.! Please don't hit me with that yardstick again!) |

As you can see, Rainier Beach has done pretty well over the years in some sports - namely track and basketball. (One of the NBA players out there is an alum...) But football? We won't even joke about that. For a while, Rainier Beach had the longest losing streak in the nation - if I remember right, they were 0-70 in the 70's and early 80's. I remember being a sophomore when the Mighty Vikes finally won their first game in 11 years; you would have thought we'd won the Super Bowl. Anyway, the beans did have a good time reliving some fond memories of their school days, and are still considering if they'd like to attend their 20 year reunion in 2003. As long as they don't play football, we'll be fine. :) |
