Good grief! The beans would like to thank Bob & Doris Darrow for taking them to meet their favorite beagle and round-head kid.
| Greetings from Santa Rosa, the home of cartoonist extraordinaire Charles Schulz. Anyone who grew up with Charlie Brown, Linus and his blanket, Snoopy and Woodstock, crabby Lucy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang will instantly recognize these two bronze icons, dedicated to the man who brought them to life. As you can probably guess from all of the Zamboni jokes over the years, Charles was a hockey fan, and he donated an ice rink to the city of Santa Rosa, where he was often found playing. They're now building a museum dedicated to Charles next door. When he died last year, over 5,000 people came to the memorial service. Within weeks of his passing, this bronze statue of Charlie Brown and Snoopy was dedicated by the people of Santa Rosa, in the town square. Even though Charles has gone to the great animator's palette in the sky, his characters will live on for generations though books, videos, movies, theme parks, and a million and one pet beagles out there named "Snoopy". The beans salute Charles, who gave us what is still probably the best Christmas TV special ever, and a reason to enjoy Dolly Madison snack cakes. |
