The beans send out gallons of chocolately thanks to BATW Ambassador Scott Rains (and their new friend Megan!) for these sweet shots from Alaska!

Hiya, candy lovers and those that are naturally sweet, and welcome once again to Anchorage, Alaska! The beans have been here a couple of times, but today they've discovered an attraction that's hard to resist - CHOCOLATE! (Yes, even canned vegetables have the occasional sweet tooth...)

Today the beans are fortunate enough to get to spend some time visiting the nice people at Alaska Wild Berry Products, where yes, they sell pounds and pounds of the good stuff, along with other Alaskan specialties, such as smoked salmon and halibut, caribou sausage, and wild berry jams. (How much of this you can actually get drenched in chocolate? We're not sure, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask...)

Anyway, the beans, being the flirtatious-yet-friendly can that they are, were quick to make a new friend. And so everyone, say hi to Megan ("Hi, Megan"), who was kind enough to introduce the frijoles to their dream date, a 25 pound block of milk chocolate. As you can see, Megan was wise to the beans true intentions, and kept the frijoles a good arm's length away from the chocolate, which was definitely the right thing to do. Trust me - you don't want to buy candy that has had a hungry can of beans drooling all over it...

One of the highlights of a visit to Alaska Wild Berry Product's main location here in Anchorage is this - a 20-foot high chocolate waterfall. (Wow, it's just about enough to send Augustus Gloop into nervous fits, ain't it?) This baby churns an astonishing 3,400 pounds of melted chocolate, enough to coat just about anything, or any can, if they were to somehow "accidently" fall in. But as tempting as it may have sounded, the beans stayed out of the waterfall for three good reasons:

  1. They're not too sure how well their backstroke skills would work in a semi-viscous liquid such as hot melted chocolate, and while "death by chocolate" may sound good in theory, deep down it's not high on their list of ways to go.
  2. Dry cleaning their label afterwards would be a real pain.
  3. As novel as the idea sounds, they'd hate to be presented with the bill for two tons of spoiled chocolate.

So instead, they beans decided to sit here on this block of chocolate and sigh heavily. So close, and yet so far...

For those of you who are dying for a taste of Alaska about now, you're in luck! Alaska Wild Berry Products are available on their Web site, or if you happen to be in the area, the beans highly suggest that you drop in to one of their three locations and pick up a box or twelve of their fab candy and treats for your friends, co-workers, or favorite veggie-with-a-chocolate-jones (hint, hint). The beans promise that anyone who sends them a box for their birthday will get triple bonus points.

Anyway, I suppose it's pointless to tell you that the frijoles had a great time here, and best of all can report back that they didn't have any cavities afterwards.
