The beans "Take It Easy" in Winslow, thanks to BATW Ambassadors Jason Funk, Danny Elias, and Mike Seckler!

Hello, Girls From Yesterday and Desperados everywhere, and welcome to a corner in Winslow, Arizona! Winslow has a population of about 9,500, and is about 100 miles east of the Grand Canyon.

For those of you (unlike the beans) who aren't totally hooked on the music of the Eagles, their 1972 hit song "Take it Easy" includes a line about "standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona". And as you can tell, the nice people of Winslow are proud of the legacy from the song, and it's here at the corner of Kinsley and Historic Route 66 in downtown Winslow that you'll find 'Standin' On the Corner Park', which features a mural and a life-size bronze statue of a dude doing what he does best - loitering on the corner, attracting onlookers, pigeons, and the occasional can o' frijoles...

Now, according to the song's lyrics, supposedly a hot babe in a modified pickup is supposed to swing by this very corner at any moment, so here the beans are -- ready and waiting. And waiting. And still waiting. (Apparently she's running late...) Eventually, the beans gave up and went with their Ambassador friends to drown their sorrows in another Tequila Sunrise...

Down the road a ways from Winslow you'll find the town of Holbrook, which is home to the International Petrified Forest/Museum of the Americas/Dinosaur Park (all in one!). If you're into trees that turned into rocks or rocks that just happen to look like trees (and quite honestly, who isn't?), this is the place for you.

Here you can wander around in the hot sun looking at petrified chunks of wood and amazingly life-like dinosaurs, which as you can see, are mighty friendly. In fact, this sharp-toothed one couldn't wait to come up and give a big petrified welcome to the beans and Ambassador Mike, especially when he noticed the camera. Proof that even prehistoric creatures can be spotlight hogs, too...

Anyway, the beans had a great time in the Arizona sunshine, and sincerely thank Jason, Mike, and Danny for hauling them around. As for Mr. Velociraptor, well, his 8 x 10 reprints are in the mail...
